Week Seven
10/2/17-10/6/17
The end of hectic week seven makes me so excited to spend time with my family and relax during our two reading days. This week was full of events that kept me busy, but, as always, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my college and spend time with my team. I was able to attend the Study Abroad Luncheon which was a great opportunity to here other students’ experiences in the program and really interested me in possibly participating one year. This week, I participated in Open House and was able to meet a prospective student. She was so excited to be at UC Blue Ash and get started on her education. She told me that she had enrolled here before, but withdrew after discovering she wasn’t quite ready. Her drive to get back in school really inspired me, and this student made this eventful really impactful for me. I felt like I was able to make an impact at Open House as well because I was able to help support UC Blue Ash. Whether I was leading students to the computer concourse or answering general questions, I felt like I really helped people to grasp how amazing and supportive our college is.
I also met with Sarah this week to learn how to review a resume for our third session of SLPDI next week. There are so many details that go into making a resume great. I showed Sarah my resume and we reviewed it together and came up with ideas to make it better. We both thought it would be a good idea to make a new resume, and we can show students a before and after of mine and how much more professional it looks after I make these changes.
I am so proud of myself because of how well I’m balancing school, ambassador responsibilities, and work. Everyone in my life is super supportive of this balance and helps me in any way they can. It’s just so nice to see hard work pay off! I aced my second accounting exam and my professor congratulated me and told me how well she thinks I’m doing, which was so encouraging. Anyways, this week in business law, I learned about strict liability torts with a wild animal. Basically, if you own a wild animal (i.e., a lion) and that animal gets out and attacks/ hurts someone/ damages property, you are found liable even if you crated the animal because you acted with extremely hazardous action. Prerna and I had to make an infographic about this topic and it was really interesting to research!
