Week Two
1/15/18-1/19/18
This week was pretty slow for me as far as events go. I was able to meet with both Sarah and Chris about things I could do to help with Career Services as part of my leadership role this semester. I am going to be attending some classroom visits with them over the next couple of weeks and help with the SLPDI sessions that will be starting in February. We also discussed how we could possibly get more students to use the peer service offered through the office and I might be creating an advertisement for it. Working with Career Services always makes an impact on me because I get to help so many people and I feel like I make an impact through the work that I do for the office.
This week in classes, I learned more about what government does to prevent the market from failing. Although economics is not my favorite subject, I found it interesting to learn why the government makes certain decisions. After all the snow days and long weekends, I cannot wait to get back to a normal schedule and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the ambassador meeting on Monday.
I forgot to mention it last week, but I was able to meet with Molly Scruta and discuss the Women of the World (WOW) Conference that she is planning for Women’s HERstory month. I was able to meet several other women who are interested in helping and it was very impactful to see how passionate others are about advocating for women’s equality today. We are planning to meet this coming Monday and I am very excited to see what it has in store!
